Blooming with Neurosciences
Dr. Maude Champagne is a clinician-scientist, registered social worker, psychotherapist, trainer, and program developer specializing in fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), brain-based disabilities, childhood aggression, complex trauma, and attachment. She holds a PhD in Neurosciences from Queen’s University and received the Mitacs Award for Outstanding Innovation for her work with Kids Brain Health Network.
As the founder of Blooming with Neuroscience, Dr. Champagne translates research into practical approaches for educators, clinicians, caregivers, and organizations. Her work focuses on understanding behaviour through a brain-based lens and helping adults respond with curiosity, regulation, safety, and connection. She is the author of Decoding Aggression and Complex Behaviours: Brain-Based Disabilities and a leading voice on aggression toward family and caregivers in childhood and adolescence (AFCCA) and the application of Nonviolent Resistance.
Dr. Champagne is collaborating with POPFASD on educational pilots designed to strengthen educators’ understanding of FASD and increase their confidence in supporting students with complex needs. Drawing on neuroscience, lived experience, clinical practice, and implementation research, she offers concrete strategies that move beyond compliance-based approaches. Her work invites school communities to recognize disability, reduce blame, build responsive environments, and create conditions in which both students and the adults supporting them can thrive.
