Michelle Hughes

FASD Coordinator

Private Practice

Before Michelle ever became an FASD Coordinator, trainer, or speaker, she was a mom trying to understand how to best support her child. More than 30 years in health and human services has taught her that knowledge matters—but connection, understanding, and shared learning can be just as powerful.

Today, Michelle brings her lived experience as a caregiver together with her professional experience as one of Ontario’s provincially funded FASD Coordinators and as the founder of Curating Change. Across these roles, she has collaborated with caregivers, educators, law enforcement, and the child and youth sector to build understanding of FASD and strengthen supports for individuals and families.

Michelle believes that everyone who supports a person with FASD is part of their caregiving circle. When those people feel connected, supported, and equipped with practical knowledge and resources, they are better able to recognize strengths, create opportunities, and help individuals thrive.

Known for her honesty, humour, and storytelling, Michelle brings a perspective that connects professional learning with the realities of everyday life—creating space for audiences to feel understood, challenged, and empowered to make a difference.
