MILE for the Classroom

2:15PM to 2:55PM PDT / 40min

This presentation introduces the Math Interactive Learning Experience (MILE), an innovative, scientifically validated program specifically designed to improve math outcomes for children with math challenges including children with FASD. Extensively studied and adapted within the Canadian educational context, MILE is now fully available for classroom implementation.

This session will trace the evolution of the MILE program from its clinical research foundations to its current practical application in diverse classrooms. Attendees hear about the program's strong efficacy data, which demonstrates gains in student mathematics achievement as well as boosting educator competency and instructional confidence. MILE is supported by a comprehensive suite of ready-to-use training resources and professional development tools accessible on its website. Participants will gain a practical understanding of how to seamlessly integrate MILE into their daily curriculum, utilize the accompanying educator resources, and leverage strengths-based strategies to foster mathematical confidence.
