Supporting Behaviors In School

12:00PM to 1:20PM PDT / 80min

Students with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are often misunderstood in the school setting, especially when behaviors cloud or mask their underlying needs. Behaviors are often misinterpreted as willful and defiant, and standard intervention strategies can be ineffective and may unintentionally create traumatic experiences. This presentation will guide participants through brain and nervous system-informed approaches to analyzing the root causes of behavior and how to incorporate these into effective behavior support plans for students.
