Kelly Zalkowsky

Teacher

School District 36, Surrey, BC

Kelly Zalkowsky is an educator, Head Teacher, Department Head, and District Partner for FASD with the Surrey School District in British Columbia.

He is one of the founding educators of Surrey's two FAStrack (FASD-specific) school programs and has spent more than 15 years working directly with students with FASD and other complex neurodevelopmental needs.

Kelly believes that meaningful inclusion is about creating conditions in which each student can access learning, experience belonging, and develop a sense of competence and success at their own pace.

His practice is grounded in connection, predictability, structure, and finding joy. He is particularly interested in reducing cognitive load, building meaningful relationships, and creating responsive learning environments that can support self-regulation, engagement, and educational success for students with FASD.

Kelly holds a Master of Education and is passionate about sharing practical, relationship-based approaches that move beyond simply managing behaviour to understanding and supporting the whole learner.
